Visus Dictionary
Compressibility
Compressibility is how easily an automated system can shorten your page into accurate bullets or spoken answers without untangling marketing fluff.
Why it matters
Models prefer short, direct claims they can reuse. Long, multi-topic paragraphs get skipped or mis-summarized.
How Visus measures it
Visus scores compressibility as part of the readiness rubric and suggests quoteable sections, FAQs, and plain factual sentences.
Example
“We offer boiler servicing from £89, Mon–Fri, across Liverpool” compresses cleanly into an answer. “We are passionate about delivering excellence to every valued customer” gives a model nothing reusable.
Common misconception
Compressibility does not mean writing less. A long page can be highly compressible if its facts sit in short, direct sentences; a short page can be poorly compressible if every claim is vague or buried in marketing language.

FAQ
- How do I make a page more compressible?
Lead sections with the factual claim, use FAQ and Q&A blocks phrased the way customers ask, and keep one idea per sentence. Assistants can then lift a clean quote without untangling your copy.
- Do bullet points help compressibility?
Often, yes—when each bullet is a self-contained fact. Bullets that are half-sentences or rely on the paragraph above for meaning are no more extractable than dense prose.
